Renovations are all about choices; one choice that often gets overlooked in the kitchen is the sink. When you think about it, the sink is the busiest part of your kitchen. Almost every task either begins or ends with the kitchen sink, so take your time and choose the right one for the way you live. A kitchen sink is one of those finishing touches which really adds to the whole feeling of your space.

The newest looks in sinks are those that compliment the latest trends in kitchen design; the ‘commercial’ or ‘professional’ look and the traditional Old World styling, two design trends that continue to run parallel to one another, closely followed by the nostalgia of ‘country’.
Sinks come in a variety of configurations and materials including stainless steel, solid surfaces and porcelain.  They can also be surface mounted or undermounted, which can change the look.  For a sleek integrated look, undermount sinks are a great choice, but work best with solid surface countertops.
Stainless steel sinks are the most popular choice in the kitchen, and compliment the “professional” kitchen look with stainless steel appliances. A good quality stainless steel sink has excellent corrosion resistance, temperature resistance, flavour protection, and is easy to maintain. Stainless steel sink gauge ranges from 16 gauge (thicker) to 22 gauge (thin). The thicker material is more resistant to dings and dents and is less "noisy" than  thinner gauges. It is also more robust in terms of handling things like the vibration associated with a garbage disposal. At Hawthorne Kitchens we offer both 16 gauge and 18 gauge stainless steel sinks in a wide variety of sizes and configurations.
